Photographer No.1 - Pep Ventosa

I have chosen Pep Ventosa as one of my photographers as i like his alternative approach to showing multiple images by taking famous tourist attraction and creating multiple exposure pieces showing the movement around it or the movement of the actual building. Also i like the way in which he gives the building a ghostly and almost haunted look which is something which i haven't seen when looking at multiple images.
This first photograph created by Pep Ventosa is of London Bridge. The photograph shows the movement of the bridge going up then down over a period of time. Due to the technique in which Pep Ventosa has used, he has been able to show movement in one still photograph. This has been done by laying all the different shots on top of each other and then changing the opacity in order to make all the layer visible at once. This gives the photograph a ghostly feel as some of the shots are very faint therefore you are unable to see exactly what it is however with the laying of various shots, the audience are able to easily identify the main object in the photograph.
This second photograph created by Pep Ventosa  is showing crowds of people walking across  a bridge. Although loads of layer have been used, you are still able to identify the different features of the bridge as well as some silhouettes of people.  However the silhouettes of the people are very faint and almost look ghostly. On the other hand, we can look at the various silhouettes to be showing how busy and popular the brigade is which contrast the fact the people are shown as ghostly and not necessarily there. Also the technique that Pep Ventosa has used by laying various shots on top of each other means that the main focus of the shot which is the brigade is easily identified by the audience and then if they wish to look further they can see more details such as people and other elements of the bridge.
This third photograph created by Pep Ventosa is showing the movement of a carousel.  Due to the carousel being a bright gold colour, you are able to easily identify the details of the carousel such as the individual poles which can be seen going from the top of the carousel to the bottom of the carousel. You can see that this photograph has been created by taking various photographs as the carousel goes round. Then each shot has been layered on top of each other and then the opacity has been changed so that all the different layers are visible. This created the overlay effect which can be seen in all of Pep Ventosa's work.

This last photograph created by Pep Ventosa is different from the rest of his photographs as it is of a natural thing rather than something which is man made like the building which can be seen in his above work. He has photographed a brightly coloured yellow tree and this us the main focus of the photograph as it stands out the most. However a very faint image of tree branches can be seen behind the tree which covers up the sky. This gives this photograph an alternative look as i could be seen to be symbolising the deterioration of the tree as it begins to lose its leaves. In the bottom half of the photograph, there are faint shillouttes of people walking past. This figures almost look ghostly and can be seen to be representing how someone has been there but are not longer there and that their journey though this park has come to an end.

I have been influenced by this photographer as i would like to incorporate this editing technique into my own project in order to show multiple imagery in a alternative way. I would like to begin by looking at man made thing such as iconic building such as Big Ben and The London Eye and then if i begin to like and enjoy using this technique i would like to experiment with natural placed and object such as forests, trees and flowers.

Overall i really like Pep Ventosa approach to multiple imagery as it is something which i had not considered before as it relies heavily on the editing in order to created the effect however this something which i am willing to experiments with to then incorporate into my project. Also i like how Pep Ventosa makes the audience look deeper into the photograph to look further than the main focus of the photograph where they are able to see faint silhouettes and movements which they can interpret  for themselves.
